Monrovia Rain Plan
Rain is in the forecast for the show at Monrovia HS. Here is the rain plan from Monrovia:
I just wanted to touch base with you about some of our rain contingencies. I am attaching a new campus map to illustrate most of them.
Suffice to say, we've been denied all lawn parking due to rain. this district is opening up our MOT lot, just north of campus for additional bus and truck/trailer parking. MUSD's 6 or 7 buses will still be parked there, but there's still substantial room for at lease another 10 schools worth of vehicles up there. We are also utilizing the SW faculty lot (between the 200 building and the softball field) for equipment/bus parking.
Second, we are adding the wrestling room to our entrance show flow. Groups on deck will come in and get toweled off by our operations crew. The wrestling room has full double doors (both from the outside and into the foyer) the same size as our gym entrances. We will also be setting up at least a half dozen EZ-Ups tot eh area just north of the outside of the exit doors (where lines had been entering in previous years) so that exiting performers can drop off their instruments in relative shelter before removing their floor and taking it to the south gym for folding. Unfortunately, we will NOT be able to shelter the pathways to the floor folding area or the entrance to the wrestling room.
Third, we will open the INSIDE of the stadium to allow groups to shelter their props. It's not 100% water tight, but it's a heck of a lot less damaging than leaving them out in the elements. Floors can be parked here as well. there is a roll-up door here, slightly larger than the gym doors.
As stated in the participant handbook, each ensemble is ultimately responsible for their own rain plan, but we hope these efforts by the staff and parents at Monrovia will help your day go just a little bit more smoothly.
